Project 2....Design ideas and intentions.
My original design was based on the design principle of hierarchy. I wanted to create a forest of towers made from hollowed out squares with the squares moving across each other, whether it be below or beneath. The structure was intended to look like the beginnings of the making of a building with the beams, foundations and trusses still visible. I thought I could highlight certain pieces of the structure with moving lights of different colours, moving through the structure, whether it be horizontal or vertical. But I felt a lack of inspiration behind this design and was finding it difficult to develop into something I personally found aesthetically pleasing.
My final design was inspired by the 'high energy project'. I chose the sketch of the view from the computer I was sitting at, a view of houses. I hurriedly created a fragment of the design on sketch up, textured the design and then exported it into Cry ENGINE. Surprisingly, I really liked this design as it is very abstract and different from other designs I have seen. To develop my model I want to create more of varying sizes and place them at different angles. I also want to include movement and lights as lights seem to always be in the most effective designs. I believe the reason behind the sucessfulness of this design is because I have not put so much thought into it and tried to make it a perfectly sculptured model, therefore, I have not lost interest in the model and have begun to enjoy the project.
